Robot 2.0 or popularly known as 2.0 is one the most awaited movies of 2018. Starring Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in the lead roles, 2.0 is slated to release on 29 November 2018.
Directed by S. Shankar, 2.0 is an upcoming Indian science fiction film. Shankar is known for making some of the most expensive Indian films like Enthiran: The Robot and Jeans.
Akshay Kumar is playing antagonist in the film 2.0. The music of 2.0 is composed by A.R. Rahman. This is the 10th time, Shankar and Rahman are working together.

1. Most Expensive Indian Film:
Robot 2.0 or 2.0 is the most expensive film in Indian cinema made to date. It estimated budget is ₹543 crore ($76 million USD). The film is produced by Lyca Productions.
Interestingly its budget is around ₹250 crore ($34 million USD) more than the second costliest Indian film (Both Thugs of Hindostan and Saaho are made on a budget of approx. ₹300 crore ($42 million USD)).
2.0 is also the second most expensive Asian film and 9th most expensive non-English language film. The most expensive Asian film is Asura (2018), a Chinese film which is made on a budget of $100 million USD.
2. Spiritual Sequel to Enthiran (or Robot):
2.0 is the spiritual successor of “Robot” movie which was released in 2010.
It means that the story of Robot (2010) is not continued in its sequel 2.0. Although Rajinikanth again reprises the role of Dr. Vaseegaran and Chitti (aka Robot).
3. Arnold Schwarzenegger was approached for 2.0:
Yes, the Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger was approached to play the villain in the movie. He agreed to play the antagonist in the movie.
But later, things did not fall in place as he demanded a whopping amount of ₹120 crore which makers denied. Later on, Akshay Kumar was signed to play the role.
Interestingly Hrithik Roshan and Neil Nitin Mukesh were also approached for the same role.
4. Football Stadium Scene in 2.0:
The scene you saw in the trailer where Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth are fighting with each other in the stadium was shot in New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium .
In this scene, there is an Indian Super League (ISL) football match between Chennaiyin FC and Mumbai City FC.
5. Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan visit 2.0 set:
Big B (aka Amitabh Bachchan) and Junior Bachchan (aka Abhishek Bachchan) visit 2.0 sets at the stadium which led to speculations that the father and son duo are going to make cameo appearances in the film.
However, these claims were later denied by the 2.0 team.
6. First Indian Film to be completely shot in 3D:
Usually films are shot in 2D and during post-production are converted into 3D. But 2.0 is the first Indian film that is entirely shot in 3D.
Nirav Shah, the cinematographer of 2.0 visited the USA to research on the filming techniques used for 3D shoots.

7. Released in 15 languages:
Along from Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu, 2.0 will be released in 15 languages including English, Japanese, Chinese and Korean.
8. Postponed four times:
2.0 has been postponed four times. Initially, it was scheduled to release on 18 October 2017.
But due to incorporating better visual effects, the film was postponed to 25 January 2018 and later moved to 14 April 2018.
The release date of the movie was once again moved to 27 April 2018 but this date was already occupied by Rajinikanth’s another film, Kaala.
Thus the makers of the film finally announced that the film is going to release on 29 November 2018.
9. Use of animatronic technology:
In 2.0, animatronic technology is used. Basically, in animatronic technology, cable pulled devices or electronic motors are used to bring lifelike characteristics to the character which is otherwise inanimate in nature.
Using this technology some movements of the object are controlled using remote and some are controlled manually.
The huge bird you see in the trailer is created using this animatronic technology.
10. Broke the record of Bahubali 2: The Conclusion (Satellite Rights):
Before its release, 2.0 broke one record of Bahubali 2. The satellite rights of 2.0 are sold for a whopping amount of ₹110 crore which is highest for any regional film.
Before this, Bahubali 2: The Conclusion holds this record. It’s satellite rights were sold for ₹100 crore.
11. Ukraine is recreated using VFX in 2.0:
Yes, you read it right. An entire romantic song in “2.0” will feature Ukraine which is recreated using VFX in the film.
This is done because when the team was planning to shoot the song in Ukraine, Rajinikanth’s health condition was not good.
So they decided to shoot the song in India. But all the scenic locations across Ukraine are recaptured separately and will be recreated using VFX in the song.
12. Aishwarya Rai Cameo in 2.0:
According to the media reports, Aishwarya Rai will have a cameo in the movie.
She was the lead actress in the first part opposite Rajinikanth. It is speculated that she will be seen in a rather emotional scene with the superstar Rajinikanth in 2.0.
13. Amy Jackson playing a Robot in 2.0:
One of the leaked pictures of 2.0 suggested that Amy Jackson might play the female robot and love interest of Chitti (aka Robot) in 2.0.
In this picture, Rajinikanth as Chitti is seen pushing the truck and Amy is seen on the driver’s seat wearing a robot-like suit.
